About the Organization

MAGNET, established in 2017 in Veliki Gaj, Serbia, is a national non-governmental organization operating on a non-partisan, non-profit basis. Comprising both national and international members, alongside skilled youth and adult trainers specializing in non-formal education, MAGNET is actively engaged in fostering intercultural dialogue, cultural participation, and raising awareness on social issues through diverse art forms and volunteerism. Drawing upon the extensive expertise and diverse skill sets of its members, who possess backgrounds in linguistics, economics, and education, MAGNET boasts decades of combined experience in civil sector activism, international cooperation, project management, non-formal education, and cultural management. The organization provides a dual online and offline framework to facilitate broader international cooperation and representation, safeguarding the identities of its members. At its education center, Magnet House, located in Veliki Gaj, Serbia, MAGNET hosts over 500 individuals annually for various non-formal education activities and art residencies. MaAGNET’s primary focus is on fostering awareness and understanding of cultural diversity as a valuable asset transcending generations and borders, as well as promoting innovative practices in engaging young people as catalysts for societal change through non-formal educational processes, participation in culture and practice of art, international activism and networking. Additionally, MAGNET’s membership includes individuals with robust political engagement in International Voluntary Service, culture management, feminist and LGBTQ+ movements, each possessing not less than two decades of professional experience. As a house for civil society, MAGNET HOUSE is crafted by educators for educators, it operates as more than just a venue; it serves as a catalyst for meaningful impact. At Magnet House, every aspect is designed to foster societal progression. From tailor-made services at affordable prices to strategic partnerships with the Magnet Association, which not only offer special treatment but actively contribute to societal betterment through project applications and community support initiatives. Moreover, the utilization of profits from hosting activities to fund Magnet Association endeavors, including the employment of marginalized demographics like middle-aged or retired women and local workers, underscores a commitment to inclusive growth and economic empowerment. By choosing Magnet Association, an organisation not only gains access to the space of MH and a conducive learning environment but also becomes an integral part of a larger movement towards positive change in the region of the Balkans. Supporting the community of one of the poorest villages in Vojvodina, offering rare hosting opportunities in Serbia, and promoting environmental sustainability through international cooperation projects as well as integrated infrastructural systems in the center, further solidify its role in driving societal transformation in this part of Europe. Testimonials from individual senior trainers highlight Magnet House’s profound impact on fostering collaboration, solidarity, and transformative learning experiences. „It’s not merely a venue; it’s a transformative space that magnetizes individuals towards impactful change.“ In essence, Magnet House embodies the values of cooperation, collaboration, and solidarity. It’s a space where educators, learners, and communities converge to create lasting change.
